Job Opportunity: Surgical Techno II-CVOR
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Summary
- Perform technical duties in all operating room specialty service areas following accepted standards.
- Maintain, assemble, handle, and sterilize specialty instrumentation using aseptic techniques.
- Identify and correct contamination or breaks in aseptic technique.
- Perform surgical counts and manage discrepancies according to policy.
- Establish and maintain sterile field independently, ensuring team compliance.
- Label drugs, solutions, and surgical specimens accurately.
- Assist in planning, setup, and organization of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes for optimal accessibility.
- Assist surgeons with understanding patient anatomy and positioning.
- Review physician preference lists and prepare necessary supplies and instruments.
- Modify scrubbing procedures as needed and communicate changes to the surgical team.
- Respond to surgical emergencies following hospital emergency plans.
- Inventory, receive, and store supplies under Surgical Services leadership.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for new hires and peers, participating in training and evaluations.
- Identify and report defective instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with restocking operating/procedure rooms and sub-sterile areas.
- Support registered nurses during intraoperative phases.
- Participate in data collection for research projects under RN direction.
- Operate and troubleshoot complex operating room equipment.
- Perform daily cleaning, stocking, and verification of emergency carts and trays.
Required Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of vascular standard OR cases and hybrid vascular cases including EVAR and TCAR.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.
- Effective communication skills with patients, physicians, family members, and staff.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions and problem-solve.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician with CVOR experience strongly preferred, especially in cardiac cases such as Coronary Artery Bypass, Aortic and Mitral Valve procedures, minimally invasive heart valve surgery, ECMO, Balloon Pump insertion, circulatory arrest, aortic dissection, lead placement/removal, TAVR, Impella placement, and familiarity with interventional wires and catheters.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; OR
- Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology; OR
- Formal education/training may be substituted for individuals with 3+ years of prior surgical tech experience.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification required.
