Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele and MS experience required)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Work Details
- 36/36 schedule (36 hours on, 36 hours off)
- Every other weekend required
- No call shifts
- Required to float between units
- Hospital may cancel/call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional overtime shifts may be available and flexed as needed
- Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- MS/Telemetry and Medical-Surgical experience required
- Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
- Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility
Certifications & Licenses
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended (verify unit-specific requirements)
- Other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC)
- State nursing license verification required
- NURSYS verification required
Orientation & Training
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
- Various facility-specific training and acknowledgements required annually (e.g., safety manual, dress code, influenza policy)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for TN-licensed/certified candidates
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Respirator medical evaluation and fit testing required onsite
- Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
Additional Notes
- Candidate must complete photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
- Various facility-specific forms and policies must be reviewed and acknowledged
- References: minimum 2 preferred, 3 ideal
- Medication and competency exams required as applicable
