Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a combined Interventional Radiology (IR) and Cardiology/Vascular/Electrophysiology lab (approx. 80% IR, 10% other procedures).
- Assist providers during diagnostic and interventional radiology and cardiology procedures.
- Responsibilities include scrubbing and circulating during IR/Cath Lab and cardiology procedures.
- Medication administration is performed by RNs only.
Schedule & Shift Details
- 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts (07:30 - 16:00).
- Call requirements:
- Weekday call from 16:00-07:30, twice a week for 2 weeks each month.
- Weekend call Friday 16:00 to Monday 07:30, once per month.
- No call the week following a weekend call.
- Call team consists of three staff members, including one RN.
- Weekend work every third weekend.
- Additional coverage may be required and rotated equitably among staff.
- No float requirement.
- Callback time: 30 minutes for STEMIs; IR callback time varies by procedure.
Patient Population
- Adults and Geriatrics
- Common diagnoses include pacemakers (PPM) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty.
- Must have Interventional Radiology (IR) experience (approximately 90% IR procedures).
- Skills: Scrub, circulate, telemetry.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
Preferred Qualifications
- Skills: EKG lead placement.
- Certifications: ARRT Advanced Certification, RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist), RCIS with medical experience.
Orientation & Training
- Unit orientation: 40-80 hours.
- New techs start directly on the unit on Mondays until Dimensions training is completed.
- Scrubs are provided.

- GE MAC Lab, Philips iFR/IVUS, Canon and GE Labs
- Angio Jet, Pneumbra, EKOS, Inari, CSI Atherectomy System
- Bovi System for Implanta Plasma Blade Cutter
- Radiofrequency Ablation Unit, Venous Closure Unit
- Sono Site, S2000 Ultrasound Unit
- IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), Impella
Compliance & Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and state-specific registry searches required within 90 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required.
- Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training required.
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required).
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination), Flu vaccine or approved exemption.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol.
- Required certifications must be current and verifiable.
- Radiation badge required for Cath Lab techs and related specialties.
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
- Candidates must be available for interview prior to offer.
- Strict policy on time off after booking (RTO not allowed).
- Medication administration is restricted to RNs only.
- Candidates must complete facility-specific orientation and compliance modules prior to start.
This position offers a dynamic role in a high-acuity combined IR and Cardiology lab with a structured call schedule and a supportive team environment.
