Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Start directly on the unit on Mondays until completion of Dimensions training.
  • 40-hour work week, 8-hour day shifts (07:30 - 16:00).
  • Call Requirements:
    • Weekday call twice a week for 2 weeks per month (16:00-07:30).
    • Weekend call once a month (Friday 16:00 - Monday 07:30).
    • No call the week after weekend call.
    • Call team includes three staff members, one must be an RN.
    • Additional coverage may be required and rotated equitably.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend.
  • No float requirement.
  • Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics.
  • Patient Diagnoses: Includes pacemakers (PPM), implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD).
  • Unit Details:
    • Combination lab for Interventional Radiology (IR), Cardiology, Vascular, and Electrophysiology (EP).
    • Approximately 80% IR procedures, 10% other procedure types.
    • Assist providers during diagnostic and interventional radiology and cardiology procedures.
    • Scrub and circulate during IR/Cath Lab and cardiology procedures.
  • Medication administration is performed by RN only.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty.
  • Must have IR (Interventional Radiology) experience (90% IR procedures).
  • Skills: Scrub, circulate, telemetry.
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
    • ARRT or RCIS certification required.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • Skills: Perform EKG lead placement.
  • Certifications: ARRT Advanced Certification, RCES, RCIS with medical experience.

Equipment Used

  • GE MAC Lab, Philips iFR/IVUS, Canon and GE Labs
  • Angio Jet, Pneumbra, EKOS, Inari
  • CSI Atherectomy System, Bovi System for Implanta Plasma Blade Cutter
  • Radiofrequency Ablation Unit, Venous Closure Unit
  • Sono Site, S2000 Ultrasound Unit
  • IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), Impella

Orientation and Uniform

  • Unit orientation: 40-80 hours.
  • Scrubs provided.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background checks within 90 days for all locations lived in the last 7 years.
  • Education verification required for highest degree related to profession.
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (10-panel negative screen required).
  • Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, physical within 30 days required.
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed).
    • Hepatitis B titer or facility-specific declination form.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes.
  • Required to complete medication safety and other facility-specific training modules.

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
  • Candidates must be available for an interview prior to offer.
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel allied/per diem acute care.
  • Radiation badge required for Cath Lab techs and related specialties.
