Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Frederick, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a suburban setting approximately an hour from Baltimore and Washington DC.
- Rotating holidays and weekends required; floating within scope of practice.
- Shift options: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts (overtime billed after 48 hours on 4x12).
- No block scheduling available.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio expected: 1:5.
- Meditech experience preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years current experience in Medical-Surgical (MS) nursing with strong Telemetry skills.
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers are welcome).
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider only (Instructor not accepted).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider only.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
Additional Preferred Certifications
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required for ER (not mandatory for this role).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - required for L&D, NICU, Antepartum (not mandatory for this role).
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred for ER.
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - required for L&D & Family Center (not mandatory for this role).
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Pass/Fail testing including EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam required for Telemetry and MS/Tele candidates.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
- Candidates must score 80% or higher on all required exams.
- Candidates allowed two attempts to pass the dysrhythmia exam.
Licensure & Verification
- Valid Registered Nurse license with primary source verification.
- NURSYS verification required.
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
- Education verification required (diploma or official transcript accepted).
- Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and updated annually).
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually.
- Required vaccinations or titers:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) - no declination allowed
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid acceptable).
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service.
- Proof of I9, E-Verify, and Residency Declaration (if working on a compact license).
- Fit mask testing required prior to start (specific mask types accepted).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and net learning modules (4-5 hours), including:
- Orientation to VAS exam
- Pharmacology/Medication exam
- Modules must be completed 1 week prior to start; candidates will not start orientation without completion.
- Photo for badge required (no nose rings allowed in photo).
