Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele Float Pool

Location: Garden City, Kansas (Zone 4)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Float pool role covering multiple units within a 60-mile radius of Garden City, KS (Zone 4).
• Units include General MS-Tele and specialties such as Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation.
• No home base facility; nurses must be willing and able to float throughout the entire zone.
• Float assignments may include ICU (low acuity holds within skillset), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of MS-Tele experience within the last 3 years (highest required experience).
• Prior neuro experience preferred.
• Experience with Alaris infusion pumps and EPIC electronic health records preferred.
• Must be able to titrate Heparin drips.

Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS

Patient Population & Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• Adult to geriatric patients with diagnoses including:

  • Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery post-appendectomy, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, General Medicine, and stable long-term placement patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:5-6 depending on acuity.
• Charge nurse designated on each unit; usually does not take patient assignments unless necessary.
• Nurse aides are present on the units.
• Respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP) available.

Scheduling & Work Hours

• Shifts: 7 AM to 7 PM.
• Schedule created by leadership for 6 weeks at a time.
• Flexibility required to fill gaps in permanent scheduling.
• All time off requests must be submitted before assignment start.
• Weekend shifts: 6-9 shifts in a 6-week schedule.
• Holiday rotation participation may be required.
• Call or standby is rare and only for low census situations.

Additional Notes

• Orientation week requires clinicians to be in-state, even if some modules are completed remotely.
• Floating is mandatory within the zone; housing must accommodate travel within the 60-mile radius.
