Job Opportunity: Med Surg RN (Registered Nurse)

Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Night shift (18:30 - 07:00)
• Hours Guaranteed: 36 hours per week
• Unit: Medical-Surgical (Med Surg)
• Beds: 42
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6 (1:6 ratio occurs at least once a week)
• Common Patient Types: Medical, surgical, orthopedics
• Charge Nurse: Present on each shift and takes assignments
• Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Yes, ratio approximately 1:10-12
• Respiratory Therapist (RT): Available 24 hours on the floor
• Telemetry: Telemetry on the floor with a centralized telemetry station
• Drips: No titratable drips except Heparin
• Floating Requirements: May float to PCU or Burn units
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs (scrubs provided)
• Orientation: First week classroom, followed by two 12-hour shifts on the floor
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: As needed
• Call/Standby: None

Requirements

• Specialty: Med Surg RN
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of unit experience
• Certifications: BLS required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license at submittal (used to verify candidate is outside a 50-mile radius)
  • Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity)
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
  • Must pass a 90% score on an open book skills exam during orientation (failure results in termination)
  • Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
