Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry RN (Night shifts)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 or 48 hour option)
• Experience Required: Minimum of 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• License: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications: AHA BLS & ACLS required
• Holiday Work: Must be available to work at least every other holiday
• Assessments: ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing during orientation (passing score required)

Required Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse in Med/Surg Telemetry
• Minimum Years of Experience: 1.5 years (18 months) permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

• Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Testing:

  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing during orientation
• Competency Exams:

  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually

Licensure & Background Checks

• Permanent Ohio RN license or compact state license required
• Background check required prior to start and must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually (code 4723.09 Nursing)
• Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
• Fingerprinting must also be completed at the facility

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Onboarding & Orientation

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Modules include safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training
• Pass/Fail testing for ECG and medication competency during orientation
• Candidates must complete all onboarding modules before clearance to start
• PBDS Assessment waived

Additional Requirements

• Must carry government-issued photo ID during assignment
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
• Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Skills checklist required annually

Summary

This is a travel contract RN position for Med/Surg Telemetry night shifts in Ohio requiring at least 18 months of recent permanent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry. Candidates must hold a valid Ohio or compact state nursing license, current BLS and ACLS certifications, and meet comprehensive health, immunization, and background check requirements. Orientation includes competency testing and completion of mandatory online modules. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
