    Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

    Location: Seattle, Washington
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 12 weeks


    Job Summary

    Seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a high-risk, high-acuity Labor and Delivery unit. The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on high-risk obstetrics and newborn care. Candidates must be able to float to postpartum/antepartum and sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby care.


    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience in a high acuity and high pace environment (higher end preferred).
    • Strong preference for nurses with 5 years of high-risk experience; candidates with at least 3 years of high-risk experience will be considered.
    • Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
    • Must have current supervisory references and proof of required certifications.
    • Must pass clinical review and provide proof of current NURSYS verification.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide continued care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum (mandatory skill).
    • Circulate in the operating room (mandatory skill).
    • Provide newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh assessments (mandatory skills).
    • Administer medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate.
    • Work every other weekend and holidays as needed.
    • Float to postpartum/antepartum and sister facilities as required.

    Patient Population & Unit Details

    • High Risk/High Volume Labor & Delivery with approximately 500-600 deliveries per month.
    • Average daily census: 15 patients.
    • Unit has 31 rooms and 31 beds.
    • Patient diagnoses include midwifery clients, private OBs, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinics.
    • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines.
    • Use of EPIC electronic medical records and electronic fetal monitoring.

    Required Certifications

    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • Preferred:
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
      • AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications

    Schedule

    • Posted every 6 weeks and adjusted to meet unit needs.
    • Pre-approved time off considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Additional Requirements

    • Must have active compact license valid in Washington.
    • Must provide at least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
    • Employment application must include at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format.
    • Must complete required background checks, education verifications, and health documents including:
      • Physical exam within 1 year of start
      • Immunizations (TDAP, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu, COVID) or documented declinations
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
      • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
      • Respirator clearance for respirator use (annual)
      • Fit mask testing (annual)
    • Must complete required WorkRamp training modules including regulatory, specialty-specific, and facility-specific modules prior to start.
    • Must acknowledge and comply with float policy.
