Job Description

• Provide respiratory therapy including:

  • HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula)
  • BIPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure)
  • Ventilator management
  • Tracheostomies
  • Chest physiotherapy (CPT)
  • Vest therapy
  • Bronchoscopy assistance
  • Metaneb therapy

Required Experience

• Specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist

Certifications & Licenses (Must Have)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certified

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics certified
• Current Respiratory Therapist license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
• Driver’s License/State ID (valid, must match address requirements)

Required Testing & Competencies

• Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
• Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, completed within one year of start, updated annually)
• 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, includes amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, etc.)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
• Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
• Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted but mask required
• TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
• Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
• Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
• Fit Test: Required annually, preferred prior to start (PAPR not done onsite)
• Health Statement: Completed physical exam or statement of good health prior to first assignment, updated annually

Onboarding & Documentation

• Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Onboarding education attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
• Resume/Profile submission required
• At least two professional references required
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (within 30 days of assignment start)
• Employment verification for past 7 years
• Education verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start)
• Confirmation of assignment documentation
• Other optional documents: Exit survey, badge photo, name change documentation

Additional Notes

• Flu season mask policy applies for the 2024-2025 season
• Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Form completed onsite
• Survey completion requested within 72 hours post-assignment
