Job Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.
Essential Duties
- Participate in identifying and meeting own learning needs; attend education programs as needed.
- Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
- Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patients/families/caregivers.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in care plan revisions with guidance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care and communicate relevant information.
- Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Follow healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs.
- Consult appropriate resources timely for patients with complex care issues or high discharge risk.
- Develop professional growth goals with assistance and participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Use effective communication systems and promote cost-effective care.
- Provide feedback to co-workers and promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Recognize and prioritize patient care needs from complex data.
- Assess and anticipate discharge needs; develop relationships with families to support advocacy.
- Collaborate with patients/families to prepare or update care plans, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
- Engage in research by reading relevant journals and contributing ideas/questions for practice improvement.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC).
Education Requirements
- Nursing Diploma OR
- ADN or ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
Preferred Education:
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
Prior Travel Experience
- Not specified / not required.
This position is suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of experience in nursing, licensed in North Carolina, and interested in working in an Emergency Department setting on a 13-week contract.
