Job Description
- On-call hospice RN position serving multiple counties in Kentucky (Washington, Marion, Taylor, Green, and Adair counties).
- Schedule is fully on-call with a guaranteed 40 hours per week, even if fewer hours are worked.
- Alternating on-call schedule:
- Week 1: Mon 5pm-8am, Tue 5pm-8am, Fri 5pm-8am, Sat 2pm-8am, Sun 2pm-8am
- Week 2: Wed 5pm-8am, Thu 5pm-8am
- Patient ratios: 15-20 patients
- Start Date: ASAP
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Hospice RN (highest required experience found).
- Prior travel experience is not required, but preference is given to those without prior travel experience.
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (ARC, AHA, or US Department of Defense accepted).
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC certifications as required.
Licensure
- Valid state RN license required (no pending licenses accepted).
- Residency Declaration Form required if working on a compact license.
Other Requirements
- Locals accepted.
- No accommodation for block schedules.
- Time off restrictions: Prefer full working timeframe; any approved time off extends the contract length accordingly.
Compliance & Documentation
Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
- Fit mask test completed onsite during first week.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or declination required (vaccine alone not sufficient)
- Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines required
- Flu seasonal vaccination or medical/religious exemption required (declinations NOT accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination (completed series or medical/religious exemption required; declinations NOT accepted)
Drug Testing
- 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months (instant acceptable).
Competency & Skills
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Core competency exams and safety manual acknowledgements required.
History & References
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the system over 1 year.
- Complete employment application/resume.
- Skills checklist updated annually.
Summary
This is a travel hospice RN position with a unique on-call schedule and guaranteed 40 hours per week.
