Job Opportunity: RN - Medical Care Unit (MCU)
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Description
- Medical Care Unit (MCU) serves patients who are less acute and may be awaiting placement to long-term care facilities.
- Patient diagnoses are varied, including geriatric, medical/surgical, adult, telemetry, and psychiatric issues.
- The unit is shared with Inpatient Rehab; nurses may float between MCU and Inpatient Rehab, which provides intense rehab services.
- Telemetry experience is preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Maintain high standards of professional nursing care.
Required Experience
- Specialty: RN in Medical Care Unit (MCU)
- Minimum Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume at least 1 year in specialty or higher based on typical MCU requirements.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required.
Required Credentials & Certifications
- Influenza Vaccine or Facility Declination (due annually by 12/01)
- COVID-19 Vaccine or Declination Accepted

- Professional Nursing License (Primary Source Verification required within 30 days of start)
- MMR Immunization (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B Immunization (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
- Varicella Immunization (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
- Tdap Vaccine (valid for 10 years; declinations accepted)
- TB Test (negative test within past year or documentation of past positive with clear chest x-ray)
- Fit Test for approved respirators (completed prior to start)
- Health Statement (physician statement within last 12 months)
- Valid Government Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background Check (including social security trace, county searches, sex offender registry) within 30 days of start
- Adult and Child Abuse Clearance (state requirement)
- Education Verification (highest level of education completed verified through 3rd party)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG Screening within 30 days of start
- Drug Screen (10 panel, within 30 days of start)
- Skills Checklist (completed within 12 months)
- SING Screening within 30 days of start
- CPI/MOAB Certification (required for all psych positions, ER RNs, and RN House Supervisors; accepted if traveler does not currently have available)
- Professional References (2 required, including 1 supervisor)
- Resume/Profile Submission
- I-9 Attestation (agency letterhead)
- Color Vision Test
- Contract Employee Data Sheet
- NSO and OFAC Screening (within 30 days of start)
- Evergreen Link Attestation (to be completed within 48 hours of offer acceptance)
- OSHA Questionnaire (candidate completion required)

- Season: September 1 – March 31
- Vaccine declinations accepted for flu and COVID-19 vaccines (facility declination only, no agency declination)
