Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Outpatient Clinic Infusion (Oncology)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position involves floating between multiple outpatient infusion clinics.
  • Requires an ONS chemo-certified nurse with infusion experience.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
  • Patient population: Adults and Geriatrics with oncology diagnoses receiving treatment and symptom management.
  • Work schedule: 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (7:30 AM – 5:00 PM), no call, no weekends.
  • Number of rooms: 3.
  • Documentation system: EPIC.

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 3 years as a Registered Nurse in outpatient infusion.
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ONS/OCN (Oncology Nursing Society/Oncology Certified Nurse)
  • Certifications Preferred:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not required; first-time travelers are accepted.

Patient Diagnoses

  • Oncology patients currently receiving treatment requiring symptom management.

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting.
  • Background checks monitored monthly (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG).
  • Education accreditation verification required (accredited nursing programs).
  • Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start date.
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster requirements if low titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen).

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start).
  • Unit-specific competency exams.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if failed).

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership).
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
  • Compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies.
  • Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies.
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually.

Work Environment & Notes

  • Floating between multiple clinics requires flexibility.
  • No weekend or on-call shifts.
  • EPIC documentation system used.
