Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Medford, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Hospice)
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts only (no 4x10 or 3x12 shifts)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 (may visit up to 6 patients per day; 30 productivity points standard)
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of skilled hospice experience (first-time travelers not accepted)
- Weekend Requirement: No
- On-Call Requirement: No
- Floating: No floating between units required
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes, within 50-75 mile radius
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- Transportation: Traveler must have their own transportation; occasional travel radius up to 50+ miles
- COVID Vaccination: Primary series plus one booster required
- Documentation System: EPIC and Oasis (Oasis experience required)
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed
- Parking: Free
- Mileage Reimbursement: IRS standard
Certifications Required
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) - Required
- Other certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) may be required depending on clinical track but BCLS is mandatory for this role.
Experience & Requirements
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable hospice or skilled specialty setting, from supervisors
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format and explanations for any gaps or overlaps
- Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work
- Fit Mask Test: Required for travel candidates, must be updated annually
- Immunizations:
- COVID vaccine or declination required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (declination accepted)
- TDAP within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B - vaccination series or signed declination
- TB Test: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
Background Checks & Verifications
- Comprehensive background check within 45 days of start, including SSN trace, death master index, nationwide and county checks, education verification, motor vehicle record (MVR), and state-specific abuse/neglect searches as applicable
- Education verification required for all candidates
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- State-specific searches required for Oregon and Washington placements
- Additional attestation forms and demographic attestations required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington
Training & Competency Requirements
- Completion of Providence WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:
- Core regulatory requirements
- Specialty-specific modules for hospice/home health
- Regional and facility-specific training modules
- Epic system training modules required for Oregon placements, to be completed within a week of orientation
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Color blindness testing if required by unit
Additional Notes
- Traveler may be called off up to one shift per pay period (every two weeks)
- Facility groups clients to minimize driving time but expect occasional travel up to 50+ miles
- Float policy acknowledgment required (though floating between units is not expected for this role)
- Badge photo required for ID purposes
- Physical presence onsite required for certain health and safety documentation and fit testing
This position is ideal for experienced hospice RNs with prior travel contract experience who are ready to work day shifts in a home health hospice setting in Medford, Oregon.
