Description

Registered Nurse (MedSurg) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Thomasville, Georgia
Assignment Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW), block scheduling considered
Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7 (experience with higher ratios required)
Start Date: Approximately 3 weeks from offer


Job Details

  • Unit: Oncology Floor (MedSurg RN)
  • Oncology experience highly preferred
  • Minimum 1 year recent MedSurg experience required
  • Previous travel experience preferred (not explicitly required)
  • EMR systems used: Cerner & Soarian
  • Royal Blue scrubs required (not provided)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC provider/instructor certs acceptable
  • Telemetry skills required
  • IV Start skills required

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (MedSurg)
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year recent MedSurg experience
  • Prior travel experience: Preferred but not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID (color copy required)
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation
  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Education verification (diploma or transcript accepted)
  • NURSYS license verification (for RNs)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • TB testing: QGold or TSPOT within 30 days of start (no PPDs accepted)
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Sept 3 - Mar 31) unless approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit test completed onsite at no cost
  • Two recent supervisor/manager references verified within 12 months
  • Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually
  • Facility-specific HealthStream modules must be completed prior to start
  • Photo for badge required within 24 hours of signing (passport-style, no selfies)

  • Local candidates within 31-50 miles considered; under 30 miles not considered
  • Fingerprinting requirements apply primarily to CNAs; RN candidates should confirm state-specific requirements
  • Facility dress code must be reviewed by candidate
  • Flu exemption requires detailed documentation and facility approval
  • Candidate must be able to complete all required documentation and training prior to start date

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with recent MedSurg experience, preferably with oncology exposure, who is comfortable with higher patient ratios and flexible scheduling. Prior travel experience is a plus but not mandatory. Compliance with extensive credentialing, background checks, and immunization requirements is essential.
