Description
Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 4x10 hour days (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM), plus on-call
- On-Call: Yes, 30-minute response time required
- Weekend call starts Friday 7 PM through Monday 7 AM (rotating shifts)
- Daily Caseload: 8-10 cases per tech
- Floating: May float within scope if needed, but primarily stays in Cath Lab
- Weekend Requirement: Call only
- Radius Rule: 100-mile radius; 75-99 miles requires facility approval
- License: Must have active West Virginia license and ARRT registration to start; pending state license accepted for submission only
- Special Notes:
- WV does not consider RCIS as licensed to work in Cath Lab
- First-time travelers NOT accepted; experience required
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year in Cath Lab Diagnostic and Intervention, including Structural procedures
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-timers; prior travel experience required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA only; no pending certifications allowed
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA only; no pending certifications allowed
- Other Certifications:
- Certification required per unit job description
- ACT and AVOX certification required for Cath Lab RN (if applicable)
Orientation & Training
- Orientation is 2 days (Thursday and Friday) covering Cerner Infusion Management
- Pass/fail testing required for nursing candidates (EKG, Medication Calculation, Blood Administration)
- Inservice training modules must be completed 1 week prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
- Color Blind Testing required prior to start
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for nursing
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate medical professional, confirming good health and no limitations
- Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit testing required (3M N95 1860 Small or Regular, Aura 9205 only)
- Onsite fit testing available if no clinic within 100 miles
- PAPR accommodations available if fit test cannot be passed
- Immunizations & Testing:
- Tdap vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted with approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
- Annual TB questionnaire for positive TB responders
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titers required
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer documentation required
- Varicella vaccination or positive titers required
- Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption required (strict deadlines apply)
- COVID-19 vaccination not mandatory; proof or declination accepted
Background & Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Social Security Card required (legible)
- Residency Declaration Form required if working on a compact license
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start
- References: 1 reference required from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within 1 year of start

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Techs with at least 1 year of specialty experience who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and working in a fast-paced acute care environment. Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
