    Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

    Location: Seattle, Washington
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Summary

    Seeking a Registered Nurse for Operating Room (OR) travel assignment. Must have at least 2 years of OR experience. This role requires flexibility to float to other OR units within the campus.


    Experience Requirements

    • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in OR nursing (highest requirement found).
    • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

    Key Responsibilities & Details

    • Float to other ORs at the First Hill Campus as needed.
    • Hard stops on certain specialties: Robotics, General, Urology, Gynecology, Bariatrics, minor vascular, plastics, and thoracic cases.
    • Must have thoracic and vascular experience to take call independently.
    • Call schedule: Three weeknight call shifts (11p-7a) and three weekend call shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) every 6 weeks. Call response time is 30 minutes.
    • Schedules are provided in 6-week intervals with some variability; changes are communicated in advance.
    • Weekend shifts depend on unit needs.

    Licensure & Certifications

    • Active compact nursing license accepted in Washington.
    • Required certifications:
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only.
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
      • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) preferred but not mandatory.

    Compliance & Documentation Requirements

    • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
    • Education verification required for nursing degree.
    • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
    • Immunizations and health documents required:
      • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted.
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
      • COVID vaccine or declination.
    • Respirator fit testing required for travel candidates, updated annually.

    Scheduling & Floating

    • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance.
    • Schedule includes call shifts and weekend shifts as described above.

    Additional Training & Competencies

    • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
    • Competency exams and specialty-specific training modules required via Providence’s WorkRamp LMS platform.
    • Epic training modules may be required depending on assignment location.

    References & Employment History

    • Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
    • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years required.
