Description
Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet Facility
Shift: Mid shift (10:45 AM - 11:15 PM)
Average Daily Census: 60 patients
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Specialty: PACU Registered Nurse
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Licensure: Active Illinois RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- On-Call: Yes, on-call required
- First-Timers: Not accepted (must have prior experience)
- Locals: Accepted, no radius restrictions
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- National Criminal and Sex Offender checks
- FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM
- HHS/OIG
- Education verification (degree verification required)
- State-specific searches including:
- Illinois Department of Corrections Inmate Search
- Illinois Most Wanted Search
- Illinois State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
- Fingerprint results via Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry (must be done in Illinois, 3 business days prior to start)
- Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
- Photo for badge (color photo, mid-shoulders up, plain background)
- Signed Code of Conduct
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate healthcare provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (negative dilute results require retest)
- Two professional references required
- Skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours may be subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for cancelled shifts.
- Block scheduling accommodations may be discussed during the interview.
This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with required certifications and an active Illinois license, seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, Level I trauma, Magnet-designated hospital.
