Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Specialty & Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
  • Required Experience:
    • At least 3 years recent OR experience with no travel, OR
    • At least 2 years recent OR experience with prior travel experience
  • Prior travel experience is required if applying with 2 years OR experience (explicitly stated).
  • Some transplant experience preferred but not required.

Work Schedule & Shift Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12s), Days
  • Shift times to be discussed and may change during interview
  • Block scheduling is not guaranteed
  • Willingness to take call (details discussed during interview)

Licensing & Location Requirements

  • Must have Tennessee or compact nursing license at time of submission (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (no exceptions)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for OR travelers going to this facility
  • NIH Stroke Certification - Required for all RNs at this healthcare system except for children’s hospital
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit or specialty area

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check within 60 days of start including:
    • Statewide, County, Federal searches
    • Education verification (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu)
    • Sex Offender Search
    • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry Search (TN only)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Fit Mask Test (3M N-95 only) within 1 year of start, must pass without limitations
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (3 shot series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap required only for children’s hospital
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending results accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Documentation & Other Requirements

  • Two recent professional references required
  • Skills checklist and internal evaluations required if employed with agency for 1 year or more
  • Photo for badge with strict guidelines (passport-style, no glasses glare, no hats unless religious, no piercings visible)
  • Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidered scrubs, business casual with lab coat for case managers

Additional Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at time of submission
  • Must comply with all facility-specific documents and questionnaires as applicable
  • Candidate must be prepared for possible changes in shift times and call schedule during interview process

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses who meet licensing and travel requirements and are flexible with scheduling.
