Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS Float Pool RN)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3-4 weekend shifts scheduled
- Holiday Rotation: Required
- Float Assignment: Med Surg floors at Main hospital and Ashley River tower
- Patient Ratios: May vary depending on unit assigned
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block Schedule: Possible with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
- Local Radius: 60 miles
- Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted
- License: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all clinical staff
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit

- Includes SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations & Health Requirements:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID Vaccines: Not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Competency Exams: Medication and general competency exams required; pediatric OR candidates may have specific requirements
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
Additional Notes
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; peak months August and September
- Parking permit available with a $20 registration fee for garage use; additional fees may apply for other parking locations
- Radiation badge required only for specific roles (not applicable for this RN position)
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, who are flexible with night shifts, weekends, and holiday rotations, and who hold the appropriate South Carolina or compact RN license and certifications. Prior travel experience is not required.
