Job Description

• Position in the Surgery department as a Certified Surgical Technician (CST).

Credentials & Certifications Required

  • Ascension Surgical Technologist Contract Worker Onboarding Education Attestation completed prior to clearance.
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics) completed within a year of start, minimum 80% score.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
  • Ascension EPLS and other compliance checks within 90 days of start.
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment and Badge Photo required for onboarding.

• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association) required.

• Personal Health Requirements:

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
  • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted.
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start; updated annually.
  • TB Testing: 2 Step PPD or IGRA within specified timeframes; positive results require chest X-ray and annual questionnaire.
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.

• Identification:

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID matching address on file; must not be expired.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Surgical Technician experience within the last year.
