Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process.

Essential Duties

• Participate in identifying and meeting own learning needs; attend education programs.
• Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
• Assess readiness to learn and developmental level of patients/families/caregivers.
• Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in care plan revisions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care and promote continuity.
• Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex cardiovascular problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Follow healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
• Organize and prioritize care based on patient/family needs.
• Consult appropriate resources timely for complex care issues and discharge planning.
• Develop professional growth goals with assistance and participate in unit goals and performance improvement.
• Use effective communication systems and promote cost-effective care.
• Provide feedback to co-workers and promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Recognize and prioritize patient care needs from complex data.
• Assess and anticipate discharge needs and develop relationships that empower patient advocacy.
• Collaborate with patients/families to prepare or update care plans, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
• Prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
• Engage in research by reading relevant journals and contributing ideas/questions for practice improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Education: Nursing Diploma OR ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Licensure: Registered Nurse licensed to practice in North Carolina.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC).

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.

Prior Travel Experience

• Not specified / not required.

This position is ideal for a registered nurse with at least one year of experience in nursing, seeking a 13-week contract in cardiovascular intensive care.
