Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Labor and Delivery (LDRP)

Location: Garden City, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Immediate need for a Labor and Delivery RN at a rural hospital in southwest Kansas.
• 12-hour night shifts with a 36-hour guarantee.
• Unit includes 12 LDRP rooms, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 1 triage bed, and 12 postpartum beds.
• Average births: 1.5 per day (50-60 per month).
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios.

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Experience & Skills Required

• LDRP experience required.
• Experience with couplet care (mother and baby).
• Ability to circulate in the OR.
• Must be able to titrate drips, specifically Pitocin.

Unit Details

• Charge nurse typically takes an assignment.
• 1 surgical tech available on the unit.
• No OB/Neonatologist or anesthesia in-house 24/7.
• No respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP).
• No adult telemetry; fetal monitoring required using GE and OBIX systems.

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts.
• Scheduling: Fill current holes, then flexible grouping or separation of shifts based on preference.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: None.
• Call or standby required per policy.
• Floating required per policy; must float within L&D, Postpartum, and Mother/Baby units.
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts unit/department specific; includes days, every other weekend, and first to float.
• Dress code: Any professional colors.

Additional Notes

• Radius requirement: Must submit driver’s license within 60 miles.
• Orientation week: Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if some modules are remote.
