Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience (Medical Surgical)
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) mandatory
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on specialty area (refer to clinical track specifics)
- State License verification within 30 days prior to start (Georgia RN license required)
- Education verification required (degree verification can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
Unit and Work Environment
- Renal Medical Surgical unit
- Patient ratio approximately 1:5-6
- 49 rooms with an average daily census of 48
- Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Floating required
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Orientation and Compliance
- Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum 7 days
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
Required Competencies and Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by Aya)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain specialties)
- Competency Exam for Nursing and Allied Health (required by Aya)
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by Aya)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (PPD, QGold, or TSpot accepted)
- TB Questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination required
- Flu vaccine or declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions)
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and criminal history

- Locals accepted at the same rate
- References: 2 clinical references required by Aya (not required by client)
- Skills checklist within 12 months required
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
