Job Description

A hospital in West Virginia is seeking a Vascular OR Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract. The RN must be able to circulate and sedate during procedures.

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Vascular Surgery OR RN
• Required Experience: Must have experience in Cardiac, Thoracic, or Vascular surgery; CT Surgery experience required (use highest requirement)
• Experience with peripheral artery bypass, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomies, fistula creation, amputations, and endovascular surgery (EVAR, TCAR, TAG) is required.
• Knowledge of open vascular and endovascular surgery is required.
• Experience with sedation is preferred.
• Experience with thoracic surgery is helpful.
• Preferably vascular experience; general surgery background may be acceptable.

Certifications

• BLS (required)
• ACLS (preferred)

Call & Shift Details

• Call is required:

  • One night of call per week
  • One weekend of call per month
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Holiday call participation as needed
• Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• On-call hours: 4:30 PM – 6:00 AM (1-2 days per week)
• Weekend on-call: 1-2 weekends per month (Friday 4:30 PM – Monday 6:00 AM)

Work Environment

• Unit: 2SE Heart and Vascular Institute
• Number of OR suites: 6
• Cases per day: 14-16
• Common cases include:

  • Cardiac surgery (CABG, valve repair/replacement, ECMO, transplant)
  • Thoracic surgery (robotic, endoscopic, open lung resection, VATS, esophagostomy, POEM, hiatal hernia repair)
  • Vascular surgery (diagnostic angiography, percutaneous interventions, surgical endarterectomy, dialysis access management, AAA repair, visceral arterial repair/intervention, amputation)
• Scrub color: Ceil blue surgical scrubs (provided by hospital)
• Floating: May need to float within other services of Heart and Vascular Institute
• Orientation: 1 week

Additional Requirements

• Must provide a copy of diploma during onboarding for POC license
• Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must be gone for 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must be gone for 2 years if they worked 1 full year at this facility
• Travel teams must be submitted together
• Only 2 candidates submitted per opening at a time
