Description

Registered Nurse - NICU

Location: Dallas, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Number of Beds: 108
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:4
  • Staffing: RNs, LVNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs
  • Equipment: Nasal Cannula, Bubble CPAP, Ventilators, Oscillators, IV pumps, NIRS, Warmers, Isolettes
  • Documentation System: CPN, Meditech
  • Scheduling: 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts), rotating weekends and holidays
  • Floating Policy: Contract staff float before regular staff; float areas include PICU, Pediatrics, CICU (care for patients under 2 years old)
  • Patient Experience Requirement: Minimum 1 year level III NICU experience

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year, including level III NICU experience
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Experience working with neonate and infant patients
  • Experience caring for surgical and cardiac neonatal patients
  • Experience with infants under 27 weeks gestation and preemies (at least 28 weeks gestation and above)
  • Experience caring for tracheostomy infants and patients with Broviac lines
  • Proficient in management of central lines and respiratory care, including care of intubated patients

This position is ideal for NICU RNs with at least one year of level III experience who are comfortable managing complex neonatal patients including surgical and cardiac cases.
