Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist - Home Health (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy school.
• Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required.
• Valid California Driver’s License Class C and automobile insurance required (due to home health setting).
• Minimum 5 years of recent relevant experience in physical therapy.
• Ability to work independently in a demanding environment.
• Strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, and decisive judgment skills.
• Proficient with computers and required technology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, teamwork, and customer service.
• Ability to develop treatment protocols, training materials, and competency assessments.
• Skilled in evidence-based practice and clinical workflow analysis.
• Ability to teach and educate others, including public speaking.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Physical Therapist (PT) License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC only.
• Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance (required for home health driving positions).

Experience Requirements

• 5 years of recent relevant physical therapy experience (highest stated requirement).
• No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned.

Background Checks & Compliance

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
• Motor Vehicle Report required (due to driving responsibilities).
• Sex Offender Search, FACIS Level 3 screening, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, and other regulatory background checks required and must be updated annually.
• Education verification and transcript/diploma verification required.
• TB screening questionnaire and negative TB test or chest x-ray required.
• Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law) within 6 months of start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
• Immunizations required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season.
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start.
• References and full 7 years of work history required.

Physical & Work Environment

• Must be able to meet physical demands and mental requirements of home health therapy.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities and complete duties within expected timelines.
• Must be able to work in a demanding work environment.

Additional Notes

• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and other regulatory and compliance documents prior to start.
• Religious exemptions for vaccines and facial hair (PAPR) may be considered with proper documentation and approval.
• Annual renewals and ongoing compliance with certifications, background checks, and health documents are required.

This position is ideal for experienced physical therapists comfortable with home health settings and independent work, who meet the licensure and certification requirements and can comply with extensive background and health screenings.
