Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Morehead City, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
Weekends: Every 3rd weekend required
Call: No call required
Floating: As needed within scope


Job Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse, PCU/Stepdown Unit
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Skills Preferred: PCU/Stepdown experience

Facility & Job Specifics

  • Locals are not allowed (must live outside a 50-mile radius)
  • First-time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)
  • EMR system: Meditech
  • Block scheduling: Willing to discuss during interview

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

  • Valid State License
  • Transcript or Diploma (education verification required)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (10-panel, instant acceptable)
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (True 2-step PPD or equivalent)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (recommended)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 doses vaccine or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B: Completed vaccine series with immune titer or declination
    • Varicella: 2 doses vaccine or positive titers
    • Flu vaccination required during flu season (with medical/religious exemptions allowed)
    • COVID vaccine series preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, updated annually
  • Photo for badge (headshot)
  • Facility-specific forms including medical history, TB symptom questionnaire, hazardous drug form, and respirator fit questionnaire
  • Must comply with facility policies and complete required modules prior to or by start date

Notes

  • Floating may be required within the scope of practice
  • Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Block scheduling options can be discussed during the interview

This position is ideal for experienced PCU/Stepdown RNs with prior travel contract experience looking for a 13-week travel assignment on a night shift schedule.
