ICU RN Travel Job - Prestonsburg, Kentucky

Position Details

  • Specialty: RN ICU

  • Contract Length: 12 weeks
  • Shift Schedule: 36/48 hours per two-week pay period (may fluctuate with census and call-ins)
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2
  • EMR System: Meditech
  • Licensing: Must have Kentucky or compact nursing license
  • Residency Requirement: Must reside within 100 miles of the facility

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 2+ years current ICU nursing experience
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Certification required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Credentials & Compliance

  • Immunizations & Health:

    • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or appropriate booster doses)
    • Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination
    • Annual Influenza vaccine (October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption
    • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or appropriate booster doses)
    • Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years; declinations accepted)
    • TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start
    • If positive TB record, chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire
    • Annual physical or physician statement confirming clearance to work without restrictions
  • Licenses & Certifications:

    • Valid nursing license for Kentucky or compact state
    • BLS (AHA certified)
    • ACLS (AHA certified)
    • NIH Certification (required for ICU nursing specialties)
  • Background & Verification:

    • 7-year background check including county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC, and national sex offender checks (must be within 30 days prior to start)
    • Education and employment verifications
    • 2 professional references required (1 charge nurse or higher, 1 supervisor reference within last year)
    • Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug Screening:

    • Comprehensive drug screen (excluding marijuana/THC) within 30 days prior to start; annual update required
  • Competency & Skills:

    • Specialty job description signed and dated (annual update required)
    • Skills checklist specific to scope of practice within 1 year prior to start (annual update required)
    • Competency exam specific to scope of practice within 1 year prior to start (annual update required)
    • Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives (annual update required)
    • Unit-specific EKG and telemetry exam within 1 year prior to start (annual update required)
  • Other Requirements:

    • Assignment confirmation form must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
    • ARH submission packet including cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
    • Employee health attestation form completed prior to compliance deadline, including uploading vaccines and applying for exemptions as needed
