Description
Job Opportunity: CVOR RN
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Specialty: CVOR RN
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) for RNs
- BLS only for techs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in CVOR or related specialty
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Work Environment
- Unit: Surgery (Main/West Campus)
- Operating Rooms: 6 suites plus 1 hybrid room
- Cases per day: 20-30 (including total joints, general surgery, spine, urology, cardiovascular for open heart team)
- Skillset: Ability to work in both OR and CVOR required
- Scrubbing: Not required for RNs
- Charge Nurse and specialty leads available as resources
- House Supervisor onsite 24/7
- OR techs (scrub techs) available
- EMR system: Cerner
Shifts & Scheduling
- Shift options:
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
- Workdays: Monday through Friday with call responsibilities
Call Requirements
- Weeknight call:
- General OR: 4-5 nights per 6 weeks
- CVOR: 5-10 weeknights per 6 weeks (up to 50% of the time)
- Weekend call:
- General OR: 5 twelve-hour shifts per 6 weeks
- CVOR: 2 weekends per 6 weeks (up to 50% of the time)
- Holiday call: 2-3 twelve-hour shifts per year
- Call is mandatory and divided equally among staff in the same role
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Travelers will take call after 1-2 weeks on assignment
Additional Information
- Floating: May be floated to non-procedural areas (e.g., delivering food trays, sitting with patients); very rare for travelers
- No floating to other procedural areas such as Pre-op or PACU
- Scrubs: Hospital provided
- Orientation: 3-5 shifts depending on caseload and exposure
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of CVOR experience who are comfortable with call responsibilities and working in a busy surgical environment.
