Description

Job Opportunity: ICU RN (Travel)

Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Specialty: RN ICU

Contract Length: 12 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years current ICU nursing experience (defaulting to higher requirement)
  • Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications
  • Experience with 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios
  • Familiarity with Meditech EMR system
  • Must hold a Kentucky or compact nursing license

Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required


Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Schedule: 36/48 hours per two-week pay period (may fluctuate with census and call-ins)
  • Orientation offered bi-weekly
  • Start date is the date needed for the assignment
  • Candidate must reside within 100 miles of the facility

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (AHA certified)
  • ACLS (AHA certified)
  • NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR and Psych)
  • Valid Kentucky or compact nursing license (Nursys verification within 30 days of start)

Immunizations & Health Requirements

  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or appropriate booster doses)
  • Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination
  • Annual Influenza vaccine (October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or appropriate booster doses)
  • Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years; declinations accepted)
  • TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start
  • Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (excluding marijuana/THC)

Professional & Compliance Requirements

  • Submission packet including cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
  • Two professional references required (one charge nurse or higher, one supervisor reference within the last year)
  • Background check within 30 days prior to start including 7-year county history, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG checks (annual updates required)
  • Education and employment verifications combined with background check results
  • Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start (annual update required)
  • Skills checklist, competency exam, core competencies, and unit-specific exams within one year prior to start (annual updates required)
  • HIPAA, patient rights, safety orientation, bloodborne pathogens, fire safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives training (annual updates required)
  • Assignment confirmation form must be uploaded within 24 hours of offer acceptance

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must not be submitted to more than one job at a time
  • All credentials and verifications require annual updates or as specified
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies and credentialing is mandatory
