Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Unit: Medical Surgical with Telemetry (Floors 7 West, 7 East, 5 East)
Patient Population: Primarily adults with occasional pediatrics (1-5 per year)
Number of Beds: 60
Shift: 12-hour shifts (0630-1900 or 1830-0700), 36 hours per week, every other weekend
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
- Patient diagnoses commonly include post-surgical care, diabetes, heart failure, hypertension, weakness, and cancer
- Float opportunities to 6 East, acute rehab unit, and geriatric psych unit
- Work with a diverse patient population including African American and Korean-speaking communities
- Use Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
- RN to patient ratio approximately 1:5
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book exam during orientation (skills learned)
- Valid driver’s license required at submission
- Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas
- Radius rule: candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
- Positive attitude, team player, and culturally sensitive to diverse populations
Experience
- Specialty: Medical Surgical with Telemetry
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum experience typical for Med/Surg Tele RN roles (usually 1+ years)
