Job Opportunity: RN - Case Manager with Utilization Review Experience
Location: Bozeman, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse Non-Certified Case Manager collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor patient care plans. Responsibilities include assessing patient progress, identifying and resolving barriers to effective care, and actively participating in discharge planning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Montana Registered Nurse Licensure
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience (highest required experience)
- Utilization Review experience is mandatory
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- 2 years acute care hospital experience as a case manager
Essential Job Functions
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments within regulated timelines
- Determine case management eligibility based on clinical judgment and assessment triggers
- Develop and implement case management plans in collaboration with patients, caregivers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Monitor care plans continuously, document interventions and outcomes, and recommend adjustments
- Manage ongoing caseload with regular outreach
- Promote integration of behavioral health and long-term services to ensure continuity of care

- Strong emotional intelligence and teamwork skills
Schedule Requirements
- Regular and sustained attendance required
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours
- On-call duties may be necessary
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and occasional climbing
- Repetitive twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling
- Continuous fine finger movements and close visual acuity
- Cognitive ability to learn, focus, and make timely decisions independently
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, infectious diseases, and emotionally challenging situations
Additional Information
- Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances
- Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
