Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele-ER Border - Days)
Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Start Date: 02/23/2026
Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (07:30 AM - 8:00 PM)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
Job Description
- Role: MS/Tele-ER Border nurse providing care in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Patient Care: Care for a wide variety of patients including complex ED admissions.
- Units: Floating required between ED borders, extenders to MS/T, IMC units within specialty and scope.
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients.
- Average Daily Census: Minimum 10 borders, up to 40 borders daily.
- Number of Rooms: 46.
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue.
- On-Call: Pre-scheduled call shifts not required.
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years in specialty.
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted.
Licenses & Certifications Required
- Maryland RN State License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required as applicable
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks: 7-year criminal history, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year (including Latex Screen)
- Fit mask test within 1 year
- Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (positive titer or vaccines required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as per protocol
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption for 2025-26 season
- COVID vaccination not required for this location but documentation may be collected for tracking
Competency & Training
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Age Specific Competency Exam (required for all, including CNAs)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for all units except certain exclusions)
- Epic Portfolio Training Test Out Form (time sensitive; may allow test out of Epic training if criteria met)
Documentation & Compliance
- Photo for badge (passport style with solid background)
- Signed job description prior to start
- Confidentiality agreement signed prior to start
- Dress code reviewed prior to start
- Security ID application completed within 72 hours of signing
- TB Questionnaire if positive TB result
- References: Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume within 30 days of start
- Work history verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted if necessary)
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
Work Environment
- Fast-paced emergency and telemetry border unit
- Floating between Emergency Department borders, Medical-Surgical/Telemetry, and Intermediate Care units within scope
- High patient volume with diverse and complex diagnoses
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty who are comfortable working in a dynamic, high-volume emergency and telemetry border environment. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
