Position Details

Experience & Skills Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required.
• Experience in monitoring telemetry patients is preferred.
• Must be able to pass the telemetry test.
• Required skills include:

  • IV starts
  • General nursing skills such as IVs, monitoring, labs, medication administration, patient education
• EPIC electronic health record experience required.
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• V Certification (specific to the facility)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) — check unit-specific requirements.

Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
• Unit-Specific Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually, except for certain units or fully remote positions)

Licensure & Background Checks

• Valid nursing license verification required within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification required.
• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting.
• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific codes and within 1 year of start.
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending.
• Education accreditation confirmation required (graduate of an accredited nursing program).

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption possible)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen).
• COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended.

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership).
• Employment application and skills checklist required.
• Must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policy.
• Required to complete fraud, waste, and abuse training and compliance policies annually.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually.

Prior Travel Experience
