Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Unit: 19 James Med Surg Oncology
Shift: 12-hour Day/Night or Night
Job Description
- Oncology experience preferred but not required.
- Patient care includes:
- Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration
- Care for soft tissue malignancy patients receiving diagnostics, chemotherapy, and symptom management
- Symptom management secondary to disease treatment or progression
- Management of comorbidities
- Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
- Equipment used: B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience required
- Certifications: BCLS required; EPIC experience required
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Must be able to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
Skills Required
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Accessing ports
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care/management
- PICC line management
- IV start
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- Interpretation of ABGs
Contract Length
- 16 weeks
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - may be required depending on unit
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI/BCI fingerprinting
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education accreditation confirmation required (accredited nursing program)
- State license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required
- Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
- Proof of fingerprint completion required (in-state and out-of-state candidates)
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required and must be updated annually
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start stating good health and free of contagious disease
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required unless medically exempt
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized oncology med-surg unit with a focus on complex patient care and advanced nursing skills. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
