Job Opportunity: PCU RN (Night Shift)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Seeking experienced Night PCU Registered Nurses for a fast-paced progressive care unit. The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Stepdown unit experience
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with adult and geriatric patients
- Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
- Experience in an acute care setting
Work Details
- Unit beds: 35
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
- Nurse aide/patient care tech ratio: 1:10 or 2:20
- Shifts: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: Every third holiday
- No call or standby required
- Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab as needed
- Orientation: 1 week onboarding plus 1-2 days unit-specific orientation
Additional Information
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
- Candidates cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
- Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
- Successful candidates demonstrate positive attitude, teamwork, strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
