Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers not accepted)
- Prior travel experience is required (HARD STOP)
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Clinical Skills & Work Setting
- Overflow IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit)
- Arrhythmia management, Cardioversion
- Cardiac conditions: CHF, chest pain, renal, pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT
- Cardiac arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia)
- Surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
- Occasional vascular patients, post cardiac cath, TR Bands
- DKA management
- Occasional ortho or CVA patient overflow (transferred ASAP)
- Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring post PCI required
- Med/Surg umbrella skills including basic arrhythmia knowledge
- Cardiac drip medications: amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, lasix
Unit Details
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Unit size: 32 beds
- Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call: Rare, 2-hour response time; travelers typically do not manage Precedex
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)
Required Documentation & Health Requirements
- Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Background Check (within 30 days of start, must be complete prior to start)
- Education Verification (degree verification required; can be pending with proof)
- State License verification (Georgia RN license required)
- Annual NURSYS verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with TB questionnaire updated annually)
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (cannot start with results pending)
Competency Exams & Additional Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required)
- Color Blind Testing (required)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and related units; max 3 attempts allowed)
- Competency Exam for Nursing (required)
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
References & Work History
- Two clinical references required
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
