Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Newberg, Oregon

Job Description

  • Position: OR Circulating RN (maternity leave coverage starting mid-March)
  • Float between units as needed
  • On-call required: 1 weekend every 5-6 weeks, 1 night every week
  • Weekend on-call required
  • No block schedules required
  • Expected patient ratio: 1:1 in OR
  • Ability to scrub helpful but not required
  • Must have a vehicle for assignment
  • Floating may include other units and facilities within the region

Experience Requirements

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., Chemotherapy, EFM, CPI)
  • State RN license and NURSYS verification required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and Health Documents:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator Fit Testing (Fit Mask) required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • Employment Application covering at least last 5 years

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete Providence Health and Services - Oregon and regional WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
    • Core regulatory modules
    • Specialty-specific modules for OR and float pool
    • Epic training modules (required within a week of orientation)
  • Float Policy Acknowledgement required (may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
  • Vehicle required for assignment and floating between facilities
  • Badge photo required for ID

Work Schedule and Floating

  • Floating between multiple Providence facilities in Oregon and nearby locations (Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, Saint Vincent)
  • Floating to Seaside includes additional incentives and hotel accommodations for consecutive shifts
  • On-call shifts include 1 weekend every 5-6 weeks and 1 night every week
