Job Opportunity: RN - Critical Care Unit (CCU)
Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel (Full Time)
Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Mixed Cardiac and Medical ICU
- Patient types include:
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Acute Respiratory Failure
- Myocardial Infarctions (MIs)
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABGs)
- Ventilator-dependent patients
Job Summary
- Practice independently in a critical care setting
- Provide routine and complex nursing care
- Manage clinical contingencies and long-range care plans
- Delegate and assign tasks to other care providers as appropriate
- Meet organizational nursing competencies and standards of practice
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitor side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
Requirements
Education & Licenses
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Coronary Care Unit (CCU) experience within the last year
Work Environment & Schedule
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1 in ICU, 4:1 in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- No on-call or floating requirements
- Temp-to-perm opportunity possible
This position is ideal for RNs with critical care experience seeking a travel assignment in a mixed cardiac/medical ICU setting on night shifts.
