Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Pickerington, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Neuro Interventional Radiologic Technologist (VIR Tech)
  • Work Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), every other holiday
  • Call: Every 3rd weekend and 1-2 nights per week
  • Training: 2 weeks training at a nearby facility in Columbus
  • Floating: Approximately 2 days per month to another nearby hospital

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty (neuro experience required)
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • ARRT certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Ohio Radiologic License (pending license acceptable)
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, exposure, positioning, physics, radiation protection, and medical terminology
  • Must be willing to assist in training permanent staff

Specialty Experience

  • Must have neuro experience with neurological studies/procedures such as:
    • Angioplasty
    • Carotid and Cerebral Angiography
    • Discogram
    • Embolization
    • Spinal arteriography
    • Stent placement
    • Thrombolysis/Thrombectomy
    • Vertebroplasty

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist Neuro Interventional Radiologist during diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Competent as scrub assistant for invasive procedures
  • Operate angiographic fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT equipment (diagnostic and interventional)
  • Manage inventory of 1500+ products in the lab
  • Assist in neurointerventional surgical procedures including cerebral aneurysm coilings, AV malformations, stroke interventions
  • Support oncology procedures such as biopsies, chemoembolizations, Y-90 radiopharmaceutical therapies
  • Assist with uterine artery embolizations, venous lysis of tumors, vertebroplasties, infusion pump placements/revisions, radiofrequency ablations, and peripheral vascular interventions
  • Department performs over 20,000 procedures annually

Certifications & Licenses

  • ARRT certification required
  • Ohio Radiologic License required (pending acceptable)
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit standards

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 2 years, indicating clearance to work without restrictions
  • Respirator fit test documentation within 1 year (renewed annually)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 90 days of start (marijuana tested, no medical marijuana exemptions)
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required by specified deadlines
  • Background check including 7-year history, criminal, sex offender, and sanctions screening
  • Fingerprinting required (on-site or scheduled prior to orientation)

Additional Notes

  • Must be willing to float to other nearby facilities as needed
  • Assist in training permanent staff members
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
