Location: Urbana, Illinois

Job Summary
The Registered Radiologic Technologist provides patient care specifically within the Heart & Vascular Institute. The role involves assisting physicians during invasive cardiology and radiology procedures, administering contrast materials, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer contrast material via existing IV line or venipuncture, monitor for allergic reactions
- Assist physicians during invasive procedures under direct supervision
- Maintain sterile field and handle procedural supplies
- Verify patient identity, diagnosis, and treatment position
- Document procedures accurately and completely
- Provide patient care including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality
- Perform on-call duties and variable shifts as needed
- Assist with inventory and instruction of new staff
- Department-specific tasks include:
- Peripheral vascular work, venous central lines, tube changes
- Embolization (venous and arterial), venous thrombectomy
- Dialysis-related procedures (AV fistulas, tunneled dialysis catheters, peritoneal dialysis catheters)
- Neuro procedures (cerebral arterial/venous, kyphoplasty) preferred
Required Skills & Experience
- Ability to learn and retain patient care and procedural information
- Effective communication and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Compassionate and caring approach to patient interaction
- Manual dexterity for handling small supplies
- Experience in a procedural radiologic technology setting preferred
- Ability to maintain sterile field during procedures
Education & Certifications
- Required:
- Associate's Degree in a related field OR Certificate in Radiologic Technology
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- IEMA Radiography License (Illinois)
- Radiography (R) (ARRT) certification
