Job Opportunity: RN - ICU (Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana

Unit: Neuro Critical Care
Number of Beds: 30
Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3
Equipment: Alaris Pumps, Arctic Sun, Prismax, EV 1000, Neuroptics Pupillometer
EMR System: Epic

Position Details

Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
Specialty: Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care
Number of Openings: Two 0.9 FTE positions (1.8 FTE total)
Shift: Days
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Commitment: Every other weekend
Call Requirements: None
Float Requirements: Floating to other inpatient areas when home unit census is low

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care (Neuro ICU)
Must have comprehensive assessment skills
Experience caring for hemodynamically unstable patients
Experience caring for mechanically ventilated patients
Thorough neurological assessment skills

Preferred Experience

Experience with Pupillometer
Experience managing EVD (External Ventricular Drain) and ICP (Intracranial Pressure) waveform
Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
Experience with Epic EMR system

Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
Post-operative craniotomy
Seizures
Encephalopathy
Neurologic tumors
