Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVPICU)

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Position Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the CVPICU (Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) with a focus on pediatric care. This is a travel contract position requiring specialized pediatric experience.


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years recent pediatric nursing experience preferred (first-time travelers not accepted unless they meet this experience threshold).
  • At least 2 years pediatric experience required.
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required.

Schedule

  • Weekend shifts as needed.
  • No block scheduling accommodation except for weekend blocks (to be discussed during interview).
  • Local candidates within 100 miles not accepted (strict radius rule).

Licensure

  • Must be compliant with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines.
  • Pending licenses not accepted.

Education

  • BSN preferred.

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, required for CVPICU.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, required for all candidates.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, required for pediatric units including PICU.
  • Other certifications such as NRP, TNCC, EFM may be relevant but not specifically required for this role.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal, and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually.
  • Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search required.
  • Education verification required (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu).

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands.
  • Fit test for 3M N-95 mask within 1 year, must pass without limitations.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
  • Immunizations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for this facility).
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed).
    • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed).
    • Hepatitis B (3-shot series, positive titer, or signed declination).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.

Additional Requirements

  • Two recent professional references required.
  • Skills checklist and internal evaluations required for candidates employed with agency for one year or more.
  • Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (passport-style, no hats, no glasses glare, no filters, etc.).
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.
