Description
Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty

- Must have NBSTSA certification unless worked as a tech in New York prior to 2015
- Elective and emergency surgeries for adults and pediatric patients, covering a variety of service-specific specialties
- 23 Operating Rooms and 1 procedure room
Schedule
- Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours (07:00 AM - 07:00 PM)
- Weekend and On-call: 1 call per week and one weekend per month
- Locals not accepted; must be more than 75 miles away
- First-time travelers accepted
Experience Requirements

Certifications Required
- NBSTSA (unless worked as a tech in NY prior to 2015)
- ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable, as required by unit)
- BLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable, as required by unit)
- PALS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable, as required by unit)
- NRP (as required by unit)
- TNCC (as required by unit)
- EFM (as required by unit)
- Tech Certification Verification - National (within 30 days of start)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (required)
- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start)
- NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start)
- NIH Stroke Certification (as required by unit, updated annually)
Background Checks and Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start (including felony checks)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- HHS/OIG check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
- Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation (if applicable)
- Education Verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees accepted)
- Transcript/Diploma (if no education verification on file)
- Employment Application required
- Work History Verification (at least 2 past employments verified)
- References (2 references within 3 years required for Aya candidates only)
Health and Compliance Requirements
Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:
- Physical Exam (within 1 year of start, updated annually)
- Fit Mask (within 1 year of start, updated annually; specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year of start)
- TB Questionnaire (required in lieu of annual TB test renewal)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Rubella: Positive titer or 1 MMR/Rubella vaccine required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed series, or declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history required
- Drug Testing (within 30 days of start)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Eye Exam (Snellen Eye Exam within 1 year of start)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Additional Requirements
- Government Issued Photo ID required
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as required by profession)
- Competency Exam (as required by profession/specialty)

- Candidates must be able to complete all required documentation and health compliance within specified timeframes.
- This position involves working in a high-volume surgical environment with both adult and pediatric cases.
- Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are accepted.
