Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT)
Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with experience in respiratory and neuro diagnostics to work primarily in med/surg and ICU step-down units, with possible shifts in the Emergency Department. Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years (highest required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NC State License
- RRT Credentials (CRT not accepted)
- Work Setting Experience: ER, Adult ICU, Med/Surg, ICU/Stepdown
- Respiratory Care Skills:
- Airway management
- Medication administration
- Ventilator management
- ABGs (arterial blood gases)
- Oxygen therapy
- Suctioning
- Pulmonary toileting
- Nebulizer treatments
- BiPAP, CPAP
- Vest therapy
- Meta-neb, PAP therapy
- Heated high-flow oxygen therapy
- EPIC Experience: Required
- Preferred Skills/Certifications:
- Bronchoscopy experience
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred
Work Details
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week (48 hours offered with no overtime billed until after 48 hours)
- Shift Type: 12-hour night shifts
- Patient Ratios: 35-45 patients per day
- Call Requirement: On-call as needed based on workload
- Floating: No floating to other facilities; may float within the assigned facility
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
- Orientation:
- Day shift: 7 AM - 7 PM
- Night shift: 7 PM - 7 AM (night shift RTs require a few days of day shift orientation)
- Scrubs: Black
Patient Population & Equipment
- Large respiratory care department practicing at the top of their license
- Patient age range: Adolescents to geriatrics
- Equipment used includes:
- Servo I, Servo U, Hamilton T1 ventilators
- Servo Air
- Night-time VPAP
- Omni-labs and V30s
- ABL90 ABG machine
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks within 6 months required
- Drug testing (9-panel) within 6 months required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required (with exceptions for past positives)
- Required health immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Physical exam and other health documents per standard travel requirements
- Competency exams including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and color blindness testing
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments required prior to start
- EPIC test-out option available for experienced candidates (optional)
Important Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is NOT allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs may lead to cancellation
- Unit will NOT accept CRT certification; RRT is mandatory
- Orientation and training modules must be completed as required
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and training requirements
