Job Opportunity: Experienced Cath Lab - RN

Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The RN develops a comprehensive understanding of patients, families, and caregivers to establish strong partnerships and deliver optimal care in the Cath Lab setting.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab experience required.
  • Experience with complex/critical care medication infusions, including titration management.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
  • Experience with emergency cardiac interventions.
  • Conduct in-depth history and medication reviews for patients scheduled for procedures to ensure peri-procedural safety.
  • Maintain sterile field and provide necessary equipment and supplies based on procedure and physician needs.
  • Participate in on-call assignments with flexibility to cover staffing needs; must be within a 30-minute radius when on call.
  • Safely administer procedural sedation and pass annual sedation examination; document sedation per policy.
  • Maintain radiation safety and appropriate personal protective attire.
  • Understand criteria for arterial and venous sheath removal, especially in patients on blood thinners.
  • Assist with setup, insertion, and maintenance of equipment such as Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), IMPELLA, Flow wire, Opsens, and IVUS.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of contraindications and reversal for IV adenosine infusion.
  • Monitor and interpret hemodynamic waveforms during left and right heart catheterizations.

Job Requirements

Education and Licensure

  • Current New Hampshire RN license or compact state license required.
  • ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • PALS preferred.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of critical care experience preferred for Cardiac Cath/Angiography Lab.
  • 2 years of Cath Lab experience required (higher specialty experience requirement).

Certifications and Skills

  • Basic Dysrhythmia certification preferred or to be obtained prior to orientation completion.
  • NIHSS certification preferred or to be obtained prior to orientation completion.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • CPI training preferred or to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • CPI advanced training for ED and ICU preferred within 6 months of hire.
  • Call shifts required for Cath Lab and Stress Lab.

Additional Information

  • Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
  • The facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
