Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - New Jersey, Camden

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU)
  • Location: Camden, New Jersey
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Unit: Mix of Medical-Surgical (MS) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients
  • Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) / Every Other Holiday (EOH)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Floating: Required to float within 5 hospitals in the system within skillset; may float to ICU for PCU patients who have been downgraded
  • Electronic Health Record: EPIC experience preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Neuro experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience (highest requirement noted)
  • First-time travelers accepted but not preferred
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Testing Requirements

  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification)
  • Dysrhythmia Test: Must pass within 72 hours of signing contract
    • Only 2 attempts allowed
    • Must be taken on a PC (not iOS devices)
    • Failure to pass results in contract cancellation and denial of rehire in the hospital system
  • Additional Certifications (as applicable):
    • PALS, NRP, and others depending on unit assignment
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency and other profession-specific competency exams required

Compliance & Documentation

  • Background Checks: 7-year criminal check within a year of start, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required
  • Licensure: State license verification and NURSYS verification required
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within last 12 months
    • Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation (required before first shift)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Annual TB questionnaire
    • Required immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug screening (10 panel, updated annually)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required
    • Eye exam (visual acuity 20/40 or better)
    • Latex questionnaire
  • References: 2 professional references within last 2 years required
  • Employment Application and Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually
  • Work History Verification: Required for all New Jersey candidates with at least 1 year prior work history verified

Additional Notes

  • Block scheduling is NOT allowed
  • Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at time of submission; late submissions not accepted
  • Local rate adjustment for candidates living within 50 miles of the hospital
  • Badge photo required by a specific deadline
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete facility-specific documents and orientation requirements promptly
