Job Description

• Work in a 34-bed adult surgical unit.
• Perform standard RPN III duties/skills.
• Provide surgical preoperative and postoperative care.
• Experience with abdominal surgeries such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, chest tubes, and drains.
• Use equipment including vital signs machines, IV & PCA pumps, WOWS/EMR charting, and Pyxis.
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1 RN to 5-6 patients.
• Floating to other units/departments may be required.
• Dress code: Regular nursing uniforms.
• Shift schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week.

Requirements

• Must have an active Hawaii nursing license by the start of the assignment.
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RPN III with strong pre/postoperative nursing experience.
• Prior travel experience: Required (travelers must be familiar with travel nursing assignments).
• Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment.

Summary

This contract position is ideal for an experienced surgical RN with at least 2 years in pre/postoperative care, who holds current Hawaii licensure and certifications in BLS and ACLS. Prior travel nursing experience is required. The role involves working in a surgical acute care setting with a moderate nurse-to-patient ratio and includes floating responsibilities. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week.
